OVERVIEW: Kenneth and Gloria Levy do their grantmaking through the Gloria & Ken Levy Foundation, which made grants for a little over $536,000 in a recent year. The Levys strongly support select Jewish organizations in the Bay Area.

BACKGROUND: Kenneth Levy graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.  After spending six years in the aerospace simulation field, Levy joined the startup team at Computervision Corporation. Levy was the founder and chairman of KLA-Tencor Corporation, a semiconductor company based in Northern California. He has since gone on to serve as a principal of Glen Una Investments.

ISSUES:

JEWISH CAUSES: The Levys are heavily involved with the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, which is owner and landlord of the Gloria and Ken Levy Family Campus, a Jewish community campus in Los Gatos. The campus is the site of Yavneh Day School, among other activities, and the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center. The couple have also supported Congregation Beth David and American Israel Education Foundation.

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Past grantees include Achieve Kids, Kehillah Jewish High School, and UC Berkeley Foundation. 

HEALTH: The Levys, via their foundation, have supported places like Hospital For Special Surgery and Franconi Anemia Research Fund.

OTHER: The couple have supported The Archives of American Art.

LOOKING FORWARD: New grant seekers can expect the Levys to continue their focus on the Jewish community.
