BACKGROUND: James W. Bagley earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University. He spent 15 years each at Texas Instruments and Applied Materials. Bagley went on to serve as chairman of the board and CEO of Lam Research Corporation, a global supplier of silicon wafer processing systems used to manufacture semiconductor integrated circuits. With his family, he established the J.W. Bagley Foundation in 1994. Its giving prioritizes education, health and human services. ISSUES:
EDUCATION: Bagley bankrolled the James Worth Bagley School of Engineering at his alma mater, Mississippi State University. He has also supported scholarships at the school.
