This Celebrity Talent Manager and His Wife Have an Interest in Philanthropy

What do Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Ariana Grande all have in common? Aside from being famous musical artists, they all have Scooter Braun in common. Braun is a talent manager with celebrity clientele and two record labels. He’s been named one of the 100 most influential people by Time. He also has an interest philanthropy.

At just 36 years old, Braun owns School Boy Records and Raymond-Braun Media Group, and with his wife Yael Cohen Braun, has established a philanthropic foundation. Yael Cohen is a Canadian health activist and philanthropist who launched the organization, Fuck Cancer, in 2009, after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Recently, the young power couple teamed up with the L.A. Clippers Foundation and Clippers guard Patrick Beverley to renovate an elementary school playground in Los Angeles. The new playground opened at the 107th Street Elementary School after Yael Cohen Braun started a GoFundMe page for the school and made it her birthday wish to give the school a new playground. This particular playground was at the top of the list of Los Angeles schools that are in desperate need of new facilities. Beverley visited the school with the Clippers last fall, came across Yael’s page, and brought the NBA team’s foundation in to make the playground possible.

On top of the GoFundMe campaign, the Brauns made additional personal donations to the project. For the L.A. Clippers Foundation, this was the third time that the team has refurbished a court this season. The basketball team funder, backed by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, also recently announced that every student in the L.A. Unified School District will receive free eye exams and glasses if needed as part of a Vision to Learn program.

So what else has been going on with the Brauns and their local philanthropy?

Philanthropy has become a very personal affair for the Braun couple recently, especially after the terror attack on Ariana Grande’s Manchester Arena concert last May. Scooter Braun organized the One Love Manchester benefit concert a few miles from the site and raised over $22 million in emergency funds. He has also been interested in natural disaster relief efforts, producing the Hand in Hand telethon to benefit victims of hurricanes Harvey, Maria and Irma.

Meanwhile, health, and more specifically the prevention and early detection of cancer, are still major issues of concern for Yael. The Brauns don’t currently have a website for their foundation or a clear way to get in touch to apply for grants. But this is definitely a couple to keep an eye on in the years ahead to see what types of youth and health commitments come into focus in the Los Angeles area and beyond.
