IP TAKE: This is a smaller women’s giving circle than the Impact groups in Texas, but still a significant force in local philanthropy that gives very broadly in the region.
PROFILE: Established in 2003, Impact Oklahoma began on a girls’ weekend trip after founder Page Beatty told her friends about the concept of the first Impact women’s group. This funder pools together membership donations of $1,000 per woman or $500 per woman age 40 and under to award grants. It first began making grants in 2005; it now funds family, health and wellness, community, education, and culture.
Impact Oklahoma selects grant recipients through a three-step process and has one grant cycle per year. Like other Impact groups, Oklahoma grantees are awarded project or program funds but not funds for general operating expenses, endowments, operating salaries, general fund drives, or general capital campaigns.
A majority of Impact Oklahoma grants are $100,000 each. View a list of past grantees by year and category on the beneficiaries page of the funder’s website. Grantees must provide services in the Oklahoma counties of Canadian, Logan, or Cleveland to receive grants. Grantees must also use the funds within two years. Organizations that receive grants must wait three years before replying for a new grant.
This women’s group solicits and evaluates new proposals between September and March of each year. It is necessary to attend a required workshop to apply for a grant. Then grants are awarded at an annual meeting in April. Direct general questions to the staff at 405-513-4790 or info@impactok.org.
